THE WAY OF ASCENT

'“Steps of ascent were proclaimed in scriptures long ago, but the dust and noise of the bazaar (the market place) dulled people’s eyes”. So it is today, and it will again be asked — “Where is the trumpet call, where are the wings of the Angels, where is the sundering of mountains and seas?” Blind ones take the tempest for a call to the repast. The cure is in the realization of the Hierarchy of the Heart. The Teaching is revealed to those who have perceived the right path. The Messenger will knock at their door.” (Hierarchy Vs. 457/9)

We are told that the Way of Ascent is through the Fire of the Heart. The ascending Spirit is developed and imbued by an attractive power from a single Source — a Cosmic Magnet of indescribable power. Once upon the beam of its magnetic field, ascent is assured and irrevocable.

“Great Guidance is established in Cosmos”. “The principle of Hierarchy” has led the entire Cosmos. The entire solar system is but an atom in the grandeur of the Cosmos.

For us, “the Way of the Heart proceeds from the great summit of Hierarchy and leads to the Pearl” of great price.

CONTEMPLATE —

Spirit, the great magnet, is the Source of Life.

How does one move deeper into the Source of Life?

“Willing Service, a heartfelt veneration, and conscious ascent will bring one to the threshold of Light.“

As we move with the Fire of the Heart … we are fed by It — and only It.

THE CHALICE

“The lower chalice rises like a flower of colour dark or somber. Dull it appears to the outer vision, but within — a light will sometime shine and shatter the illusion.

Chalice the second rises from out the lower sheath as does the flower from out the calix green. Of colour rose it is, and many shades thereof; and to the onlooker it seems as if the colour might transcend the inner shining light. But this is but illusion which time itself dispels.

Chalice the third surmounts all and opens wide in time its outspread petals. Blue does it appear and blends with the rose, forming at first a deep impenetrable shade which shuts out the light.

Within the three, deep hidden in the heart, tiny at first yet ever waxing greater, shines the light divine. This light, through radiating heat and innate divine vibration, constructs for itself a sheath of iridescence. It emerges from the threefold chalice as a floating bubble alights on a flower.

Within this iridescent sheath burns the inner Flame, and in its turn it burns out the lower gross material. E'en as the Path is neared, clearer the light shines out. Forth through the chalice gross and dark that forms the foundation shines the light supernal, till all who see the radiation cry out within themselves: "Behold, a God is here."

Forth from the chalice rosy red shines the inner glow, till soon the red of earth desire becomes the glow of heaven's fire, and all is lost save aspiration that shades not the cup with karmic colour.

Forth from the chalice blue shines and glows the inner light divine till all the forms are burnt and gone, and naught is left save one divine abstraction. Naught but the shells remain below, naught but the forms for use, and at the culmination what strange event is seen? Tarry, O Pilgrim, at the strange appearance, with bowed head watch the progress of the fire. Slowly the chalice threefold merges into an altar, and from that triple altar mounts the fire unto its Source. As mounts and spreads the inner flame, the beauty of the central sphere, lit with a radiance white, causes the worlds to stand and cry: "Behold, a God is here."

Ever the flames mount higher, ever the warmth streams forth, till—in the moment of the hour set—the flame destroys all, and all is gone, the work of ages passes, in a moment, into nothingness. [4th Initiation]

But forth from the fourfold fire, up from the altar of the ages, springs the Liberated One, the Flame. Back to the fire of Cosmos springs the dual flame. Into the Three is absorbed the essence, and becomes one with its Source. The Spark becomes the Flame, the Flame becomes the Fire, and forms part of the great Cosmic blaze that holds the secret of the Five hidden within the heart.”

IN REVIEW ~ Preparing for Christmas Day.

The Winter Solstice, a Solar planetary event, is an experiential recognition of Light and Dark upon the Earth. The SOLAR LOGOS, THE ONE IN ALL, is in direct relationship with the Earth.

It is the Longest NIGHT in the Northern hemisphere and the longest DAY in the Southern Hemisphere.

During these Days, the “higher rule” of Venus — the Hierarchical transmitter of Capricorn, shines through the Sign Capricorn: "When Love and Mind and Will meet on the Mount of Transfiguration, they “reveal the secret of the hidden glory”.  (EA, 167)

“Esoterically, all world Saviours and Sun Gods are born in Capricorn.”

On Winter Solstice Day, Solar Light enters through THE SIGN CAPRICORN.

CHRIST IS BORN IN THE CHAMBERS OF THE HEART

The Winter Solstice is a period that transcends time as we know it — time “stands still” during this magical period of the Earth’s alignment, proximity and relationship to the Sun. A deep communion and transmission takes place. Sensitive to these cosmic, Hierarchical energies, we participate in this Holy communion expressing through the Universe.

We embrace the meaning of the Light of the World as the Light of the Cosmic Christ …The Light of the Sun in the Heart as “the Son of Divine Love” … the Solar Light of God as the Life of God pulsing in every living creature — every beating Heart — the heart of every atom. A new sphere of spiritual livingness is made possible when we attune with our Solar God.

Now before us stands a Holy Mountain of Consciousness fed by a rarified Light. As the Sun enters Capricorn a new Mystery is revealed in Supernal Light — the Light of Life itself.

Angelic choirs and beauty fill our senses. A great ritual of the Sun and Earth is taking place.

The birth of Christ Consciousness — of Spiritual Livingness — of Joy, the keynote of the living Universe, are being made known.

solstice to Christmas

“The golden Christ force” enters the earth during the Capricorn Solstice. As it does, “an impulse is released that quickens the life and spiritualizes the conditions of the entire planetary sphere.” As Capricorn energies enter the Earth, “the Christ Spirit manifests in mankind”.

"Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, goodwill towards men".

In this phrase about which choirs and angels beautifully sing, we find a three-staged formula:

First, good will towards all, from which “right human relations” develop. Peaceful relations will bring peace on earth as a natural outgrowth. Then will “God in the highest” be glorified and a direct link be established with humanity.

“When the consciousness which is Christ's has been awakened in all men, then we shall have peace on earth and goodwill among men. When this has taken place, then will God be glorified."

Let us avail ourselves of this sacred knowledge — individually, as a Soul group and as one Humanity.

We will all come to see the imperative to embody the “consciousness which is Christ’s” — for the sake of Peace on earth, for the sake of God’s glorification.

In so doing, we steadily move upon the Way to yet another Mountain — the abode of the True Soul, the spiritual Triad, and the Monad — Spirit — Being, as our goal for true spiritual achievement.

CONTEMPLATE

The “superior state that is the Christ Ideal for all humanity”.

Then shall universal Love and Light pour through all the Kingdoms. Toward this future we work. Then shall we know Peace and Goodwill toward all, then shall God be glorified.

THE SPIRIT OF PEACE

‘Let the Forces of Light bring illumination to mankind.

Let the Spirit of Peace be spread abroad.

May people of goodwill everywhere meet in a spirit of cooperation. 

May forgiveness on the part of all be the keynote at this time.

Let power attend the efforts of the Great Ones.

So let it be and help us to do our part.’

This invocation “expressed the normal, largely unconscious, invocative cry of humanity. It summed up in itself the desire of all men everywhere for peace, for goodwill and cooperation. It was generally popular and was and still is very widely used. It was fairly easily understood and its outstanding note was peace. It was used as a prayer by the majority and not as a challenging demand as had been intended; it did not, therefore, prove adequately effective in arresting the onward march of evil. It does, however, preserve the form which can and will evoke eventually the Spirit of Peace. This evocation will bring to humanity that stimulation and active desire to participate in the expression of goodwill which will render world peace an effective outcome of wise action and the establishment of right human relations. Just as the Great Lord of Love and Son of God, the Christ, used as His vehicle of expression on earth, the form of the Master Jesus, so this great extra-planetary Life, the Spirit of Peace, can be enabled, on a higher turn of the spiral, to use as His vehicle of expression, the form of the Christ, the Prince of Peace; thus His stupendous energies will be stepped down through the medium of the Lord of Love and become available to the mass of men.” Externalization of the Hierarchy (EXT) by Alice A Bailey/MDK, 397

◊ Let us intone this invocation today as a “challenging demand”. Sense the Spirit of Peace as a Presence behind the Invocation.

“The Spirit of Peace will, when the right time comes, vitalise the responsiveness of humanity, via the influence of the Hierarchy, to the will of God which has for basic intent the bringing of peace on earth. What is peace? It is essentially the establishing of right human relations, of synthetic rapport with its resultant cooperation, of correct interplay between the three planetary centres and an illumined, loving understanding of the will of God as it affects humanity and works out divine intent. It is for this reason that the Christ, Who established for the first time in planetary history a contact between the Hierarchy, Humanity, Shamballa and the Spirit of Peace in His Own high place, in His first recorded utterance said that He must be about His Father's business and then at the end of His life, reiterated the same thought in the words: "Father, not my will but Thine be done," thus carrying the thought up to the highest plane for He addressed the Father, the first Aspect of Divinity. He then focussed in Himself the two major divine attributes and aspects—will and love (atma-buddhi)—and because of this, His consciousness became extra-planetary as is the consciousness of the Lord of the World, and He could then touch certain heights of awareness and contact certain solar Agencies which had never before been contacted by man. This achievement enabled Him to put Humanity in touch with the Spirit of Peace. THE MYSTERY OF THE ETERNAL MADONNA

“There is a most profound significance to the fact that the ageless theme of the Madonna and Child has paralleled the entire evolutionary span of the human race. Together they are the archetypal image of mankind’s future spiritual unfoldment, for they symbolize the birth of the Christ consciousness within man himself.  The feminine typifies an awakened and illumined soul; and the Christ consciousness can be born only in one of such soul attainments.”

“For modern man, therefore, the true significance of the Christmas Season lies in the birth of the Christ consciousness within himself.  This is God’s great gift to humanity at this time.  And so on holy Christmas Night, the aspirant reconsecrates himself that he may love and serve in fuller measure all those whom he meets in daily life, for in this way he receives increasingly the Christ light within himself.  Until this birth has occurred within him he can never know the deep joys of a truly spiritual Christmas.”

CHRISTMAS EVE DAY: In the work of Esoteric Advent, the period between Solstice Day to Christmas Day spans ONE DAY in Kairos time. It is a deeply interior time, a higher interlude for “turning” inward for deeper communion with our essential Divinity. During this period, let us intensify our '“interior-ness” in service of the Light of Life and Love of Consciousness taking fuller birth through us.

On Christmas Eve Night, we turn our attention to experience Christmas Advent as MOTHER’S NIGHT — THE BIRTHING HOUR for individual and collective Humanity.

“Christ is born all through the SACRED Night”.

A “time” will come when symbol and allegory become factual. The Christ in us enters a new phase of manifestation now — where the mighty image of God, the Divinity within, takes new birth.

Birthing "Gods" All Through the secret HOLY NIGHT 

All Sun Gods are born in the season of Christmas when the Sun is in Capricorn, the sign of manifestation. The Divine Feminine is present during every birth and every death.

An “allegory teaching the emergence of the spiritual man from the control of matter” is found in Eve, Isis, and Mary. These three are of “significant importance where our civilization is concerned for they embody in themselves the symbology of the entire form nature of the personality” - the mind, emotions and body. 

"The developed and qualified personality is the expression of the third aspect of divinity, that of God the Holy Spirit, the active, intelligent and nurturing principle of the universe”.

It is through the "glorified personality" that the mature Christ is ‘born’ and revealed. It is the moment when the Christ emerges from out of the womb of time and matter, and "stands free in the light".  Through form and matter, God stands revealed – this is the story of the divine incarnation. …  (EA, 284/5)

◊ Ponder and meditate upon this divine inherent process going on within you, within every human Being, now.“ Mary carries the process down to the plane of incarnation, the physical plane, and there gives birth to the Christ child.”  In this phase, she “reveals the hidden spiritual reality.”

In the deep dark quiet of the “womb of time”, the Divinity of Man is brought into manifestation.  This every form veils, but the human form is equipped to manifest the expression of divinity in which “the whole creative process is intended”.

"We recognize the birth of the Avatar of Love – “the birth of our Lord” — the Christ within ourselves on Christmas Eve night, at the midnight hour and all through the Night.  

“Amongst peoples of ancient religions, this night was called Modranecht, or “Mother’s Night”, where night-long vigils were performed connected with the birth of the Sun-God - the very same night “now so holy to us.”  (FBTC)

"At the time of the birth of Christ, Sirius, the Star in the East, was on the meridian line, and Orion, called "The Three Kings" by oriental astronomers, was in proximity; therefore the constellation Virgo, the Virgin, was rising in the east, and the line of the ecliptic, of the equator, and of the horizon all met in that constellation. … "

"Within the constellation [Virgo] we find three stars [you can see five] in the shape of a cup.  This is the true Holy Grail, that which contains the life blood, the repository of the sacred and the holy, and that which conceals divinity. These are astronomical facts. The interpretation of the symbolism attached from ancient days to these constellations is as old as religion itself.” (FBTC)

The Chalice of the Heart is the true Holy Grail, containing the Love Principle of the Universe.  As above so below.  

As we step out into the night during these nights, look up to the stars.  Find Orion's belt and the Star Sirius (to which Orion's Belt points). Drink deep of the pure Love energy of the Star Sirius, the Cosmic Christ — shining upon mankind, leading to a planned destiny. Its Life “informs” our own as with the Magi in times of old traveling to meet the new born King for Humanity … bearing gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold.

CONTEMPLATE all the above.

And now as we prepare to enter Holy Night with the VIRGIN, let us remember Virgin means PURE — it is that Pure state of Being within ourselves that we are giving birth to in Consciousness, in conscious Awareness.

Attune to the Universal VIRGIN resonating with the frequency of the Virgin in us “giving birth” to Christ in greater measure.

"Be with" these thoughts, immersed in the energy field of this ancient story. Before the midnight hour arrives — go to [the tab titled] “Mother's Night” to “keep Vigil” on Christmas Eve … until sleep overtakes you and moves you beyond the veil into the formless world where the Holy Mother, Her Angels and these energies converge to course through us and all humanity — for Revelation.

AT THIS TIME IN HUMAN HISTORY, ESPECIALLY NOW, LET US BE REMINDED:

“... the great and satisfying reply to all human questioning and human need is to be found in the doctrine of Avatars, and in the continuity of divine Revelations. This is the persistent belief—ineradicable and unalterable—that (at major moments of world need) God reveals Himself through Appearances, through a Coming One. This doctrine is found in all the basic world religions, in every time and age; it appears in the doctrine of the Avatars of the Hindu faith, in the teaching of the return of Maitreya Buddha or the Kalki Avatar, in the belief in the Western world in the return of Christ and His Advent or second Coming, and in the prophesied issuing forth of the divine Adventurer [Imam Mahdi] of the Moslem world."

Mankind has an "undying belief in the loving Heart of God"  ever meeting his need. 

"The reason for this [underlying] faith, innate in the human heart, is to be found in the fact of the nature of Deity itself. The Christian statement that "God is Love" is founded on that deepest, recognised, spiritual fact. The expression of this divine characteristic can be summed up in the words from The Voice of the Silence:

"Compassion is no attribute. It is the Law of Laws—eternal Harmony, Alaya's Self; a shoreless, universal essence, the light of everlasting right and fitness of things, the law of love eternal."

To this everlasting Compassion the cyclic appearance of the Sun Gods of the ancient myths, the World Saviours and the Avatars bear witness and are the guarantee." (Externalization of the Hierarchy, 286)

"AT THE HEART OF THE UNIVERSE IS UNALTERABLE COMPASSION ~ The Law of LOVE ETERNAL”

Allow the truth of these words — The Law of Love Eternal — to enter you, blend all separated parts into one ~ and bind you to the Eternal.

Verily I say unto you, Know Your Divine Origin — you are a Child of the Stars.

“This, my brother, is one of the most advanced injunctions in any of the world Scriptures and is found in The Bible. It has no reference to humility as usually interpreted and understood. It signifies the ability to view all life with a sense of divine proportion and from the angle of spiritual mathematics, and (paradoxical as this may sound) with no sense of dualism. … It involves acceptance and comprehension of purpose, and this in such a manner that the consecrated personality—under control of the Monad, via the antahkarana, and in cooperation with the one known God—walks the ways of Earth as a channel for the three divine qualities (love, will and intelligence), but also as a channel for that which these three qualities will enable him later to sense, know and reveal.”

“These are solemn and important statements. They have within them the element of prophecy, but it is prophecy which has no relation to the salvation of humanity in any sense at all. It is related to an active Appearance which will, under the Law of Synthesis, indicate That which the three great planetary centres of divine life are unitedly intended to reveal. Something lies behind the three divine aspects of so great an importance, beauty and revelatory strength that all the happenings of all time, up to the present emerging Aquarian Age, have been only the initial and the initiatory preparation.” (Rays and Initiations, 258)

~ To Break through into the “Living Presence” is to give birth to “the Immaculate Conception” —the pure high vibration of the Monad, the living inner God. A Master of Love-Wisdom is a master of Consciousness. S/He has met, toiled and claimed victory over all the lower 18-subplanes of the physical plane (mental, emotional, physical) in daily living, has been initiated into the Mysteries of the long and arduous journey Home, as an “Initiate” has fulfilled the Laws of the Soul and made the breakthrough into Reality — of ‘Life more Abundant’ — where abides God Immanent — the Living God. This marks a great achievement for the Soul and is what awaits all humans in due time and process. Essential Divinity is Who and What we are. It is the revelation of that Divinity through the form of a purified, prepared and consecrated instrument that awaits every human Monad.
